Deploy a Project and Use it in Runtime
Once created, XtraBuild Projects and their updates have to be deployed to the end-users’ Databases. From there, your end-users can access and run these Projects with XtraBuild Runtime.
Updating a Project Using XtraBuild Runtime
To start working with a Project, your end-users only need the Project file (created with XtraBuild Designer) and a copy of XtraBuild Runtime installed on their computer. The associated Database can be created and updated with a few clicks using XtraBuild Runtime.
Creating One To One Relationships in XtraBuild Designer
In XtraBuild Designer you can create a one-to-one relationship with just a couple of clicks. Next, you can make this relationship work for your end-users by interconnecting appropriate Views.
Creating One To Many Relationships in XtraBuild Designer
Similarly to one-to-one relationships, one-to-many relationships are created by inserting special Relation Editors in Tables. The corresponding Views are interconnected using appropriate controls on the interface, with no hand-coding.
Creating Many To Many Relationships in XtraBuild Designer
Many-to-many relationships can be easily created, too. Just pay attention to insert the right Editor to the right Table, and to interconnect Views correctly.
Creating a Table in Relationship with Itself
To associate a record with another record from the same Table, you have to create a Table in relationship with itself. Then, create a Grid View and a Lookup Grid for this Table, and interconnect them. To organize your data even better, you can create a Tree View, too.
Creating a Gantt View in XtraBuild Designer - The Basics
Extend your application with project-management capabilities.
Creating a Gantt View in XtraBuild Designer - Advanced Features
Keep track of tasks and projects by implementing Gantt Charts in your custom application. NEW
Creating Cascaded Lookups in XtraBuild Designer
In XtraBuild Designer, you filter a GridLookup by another GridLookup using exclusively the Designer interface. No hand-coding is required and the result is always bug-free.
Creating a RibbonBar for the Application
Define the structure of tabs and groups of buttons, then link the buttons to Views. Complex multi-level menus are easily customizable.
Creating RibbonBars for Views
You can define a RibbonBar for each Views included in your application. All RibbonBars created in XtraBuild Designer are similar to the one of Microsoft Office 2007/2010.
Creating Action Buttons for Lookups
Enhance the usability of your application by adding action buttons for Lookups. These buttons allow your end-users to add, edit and delete records into a Lookup, without losing sight of the main View where the Lookup is placed.
Creating a NavigationBar for Application
A vertical NavigationBar can be just as user-friendly as a RibbonBar. And it is just as easy to create.
Customizing Layouts in XtraBuild Designer
XtraBuild Designer allows you to design elegant interfaces in just a few minutes. Drag-and-drop the elements you need, then customize them as you wish.
Creating a Tree View
A Tree View will allow your end-users to organize their data in a tree structure. You can easily customize the node types and their behavior in relation to each other.
Creating a Detail Form for Datalist View in XtraBuild Designer
Detail Forms offer your end-users a comfortable way to edit the details of a record in a separate form, thus eliminating the risk of mistakes.
Creating Reports using Report Views
Learn how to create and customize a Report, and how to work with dynamically generated Reports.
Creating Sub-Reports in XtraBuild Designer
Sub-Reports help you create reusable modules that can be inserted in other Reports. For example, you can create a Sub-Report with your company details and logo, and insert it as a Report Header in all company’s Reports.
Managing Security in XtraBuild Designer
XtraBuild offers you full flexibility in creating Users and Profiles, as well as associating Profiles with Users and Rights. You can easily customize the end-user application for different Profiles, and check how the application works for all these Profiles.
Attaching / detaching records in XtraBuild Designer
Your end-users may need to add records to a Table and subsequently attach them to records of another Table (which forms a relationship with the first one). For this, you just have to create and interconnect Grid Views, then activate some specific properties.
Creating Summaries for Grid Controls in XtraBuild Designer
Create a field that displays the sum / min / max / count / avg or the result of a custom formula applied to an entire column or to a specific group of records in a View.
Protecting the Project Before Deploying
XtraBuild offers you three mechanisms for protecting your Project: using a password to prevent unauthorized editing, licensing your Project, and managing users and their rights.
